The Doe Run Company is seeking a Research Engineer to provide metallurgical expertise, technical support, and any other necessary assistance to the Research and Development group in order to evaluate new properties and mining opportunities.  This position is located in Viburnum, MO for our Exploration and Development Division.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead projects that further the Doe Run research program; develop a plan to complete these projects and execute the plan on time and within budget.
  • Conduct technical reviews and prepare detailed reports of prospective exploration and development properties including feasibility studies for mining projects and processing facilities. Present findings effectively in written and verbal form to various levels of leadership.
  • Assist in the planning, design, and analysis of research processes and projects. Use various software to create and maintain metallurgical models.
  • Run bench/pilot scale tests, and/or any other non-technical labor when it is necessary to complete research objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Experience & Credentials:

  • A minimum of 1 to 3 years' experience with an understanding and familiarity of metallurgical processes and technologies
  • Bachelor degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field
  • Must maintain a valid, current driver's license
  • Knowledge of environmental safety and health rules and regulations training
  • Intermediate computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong mathematical skills

Work Environment:

  • Occasionally required to wear a respirator and exposed to wet, humid conditions, outdoor weather conditions, and extreme heat. Exposed to moderate noise levels
  • Frequently requires talking, hearing, grasping, standing, reaching with hand/arms, and repetitive movement; occasionally requires sitting, feeling attributes of objects, pushing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and climbing or balancing.
  • Requires clarity of vision at 20 inches or less, three-dimensional vision, the ability to judge distance and spatial relationships, precise hand-eye coordinator, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors
  • Frequently required to list up to 15 pounds; occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds
