The Doe Run Company is seeking an on-site EHS Specialist to serve as environmental subject matter expert. The Specialist will assist in maintaining compliance with all applicable environmental regulations through effective project management, development and delivery of environmental training, and technical assistance to site personnel. This position is located at our Mining & Milling Division in Viburnum, MO.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Technical Knowledge: Assist as a technical resource for all assigned media including but not limited to: Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act (NPDES, SWPPP, SPCC, PDW), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Global Harmonization Standard, and DOT Hazardous Materials.
  2. Training-Create and facilitate Environmental training presentations for all levels of the division.
  3. Certification: Assist with implementation of ISO 14001 standards and operational control. Contribute to the maintenance of the environmental management system through internal auditing, training, and technical site support. Assist with data management and applicable reporting.
  4. Documentation and Reporting: maintain records for required aspects of projects. Document status, key issues, and progress on assigned projects.  Interface with operations personnel to ensure project completion and cost control.
  5. Field Work & Other: Assist with sampling and site inspections. Facilitate regulatory agency inspections in assigned media.  Other duties and projects as assigned.


  • A minimum of 5 experience working as an environmental professional
  • Bachelor Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Applied Science or related field
  • Experience or knowledge of ERP Systems, PeopleSoft preferred
  • Experience or knowledge of AutoCAD and ArcGIS
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Public Speaking skills, excellent verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well on a team
  • Ability to work with personnel at all levels of the operation
  • Must have and maintain a valid, current driver's license
  • Ability to occasionally wear a respirator
  • Ability to frequently work underground
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
