Mechanical Engineer Project Manager

The Doe Run Company is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Project Manager to provide engineering and technical support to manage process projects, and capital projects, that affect the sustainability of the company.  Also handle other urgent maintenance, operations, and compliance projects that require immediate attention.


  • Project management: Assure project is going as planned; prepare bids and purchase requisitions, order equipment, manage contactors, keep track of expenditures and timing.  Lead the design, purchase and installation of equipment, and manage projects through implementation to ensure commissioning as planned. 
  • Plant engineering: modify plant equipment to increase efficiency or remedy a failure.  Work with supervisors to draw up and execute plans for smaller projects including bidding and purchasing. 
  • Document control: keep track of paperwork, shop manuals, drawings, and schematics.  Assure records are backed up.  Upload plans from paper to electronic files as needed. 
  • Field engineering: Collaborating with supervisors and maintenance staff to answer questions and/or address concerns. 
  • Manage vendors on mechanically intensive projects inclusive of resource and project planning
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience/Educational Requirements:

  • BS Degree in Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical required (PE is a plus)
  • 3+ years hands on engineering and project management experience (experience within a manufacturing environment is a plus)
  • Demonstrated experience in the design, planning and commissioning of projects
  • Solid understanding of regulatory, federal and state compliance standards
  • Knowledge of OSHA
  • Independent judgment and effective decision making skills including experience making design decisions in accordance to engineering principals
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills to include high attention to detail
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally at all levels


  • Exposure to Autocad
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Project, Visio, Excel, Outlook, Word, etc)
  • PeopleSoft (a plus)
  • Ability to use company provided personal protective equipment including but not limited to: a respirator, coverall, and metararsal guard boots.
