Our Human Resources department is looking to add an HR Representative to the team where innovation and process improvement is encouraged and supported.  The Human Resources Representative will provide support to our HR Manager in employee and labor relations for our (SEMO, Southeastern Missouri) Mining and Milling Division located in Viburnum, MO.  (Surrounding areas may include St. Genevieve, Farmington, Park Hills, etc.) 

The HR Rep will act as a liaison between operations, leadership and human resources to coordinate, document and resolve employee issues to include answering benefits questions to providing education on company and HR policies and procedures for the division.   Successful candidates must have:

  • A minimum of an Associates degree.
  • At least 1 year of HR experience, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to provide guidance, build trust and partner with the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with employees and supervisors on issues such as hiring, benefits, FMLA, disciplinary activities, physicals, regulatory compliance, probationary review process, etc.
  • Coordinate compliance of DOT and Department of Mine Health & Safety physicals and random drug screens.
  • Be pro-active with employee concerns; facilitate surveys; acknowledge employee accomplishments; conduct workplace investigations; coordinate focus groups
  • Train and educate employees on company policies and procedures and benefits to include presenting in onboarding and safety meetings as well as tracking training attendance.
  • Participate in processes such as hiring, terminating and retirements of employee's to include coordinating schedules, booking travel and entering employee data into HR systems.
  • Communicate with employees and supervisors regularly.
  • Track and follow up on workers compensation cases as needed
  • Monitor and assist leader with probationary and performance review processes
  • Schedule and coordinate employee safety, community, retirement, reward and recognition activities
  • Partner with operations leaders on disciplinary situations
  • Coordinate employee position changes
  • All other duties as assigned

Required experience and education:

  • Associates Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field (Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field preferred)
  • 1-3 years of HR experience preferably within a manufacturing environment is required

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Accurate data entry skills and familiarity with HRIS, HCM and/or applicant tracking systems required (UltiPro, SuccessFactors, Peoplesoft, AS/400 a plus)
  • Knowledge of employment laws
  • An understanding of safety and environmental health compliance to include MSHA (preferred) or OSHA rules and regulations
  • Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook proficiency required
  • Strong sense of integrity and ability to handle confidential information respectfully
  • Ability to discern and manage sensitive and stressful situations
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels (both verbally and written)
  • Exposure presenting to small groups (onboarding new employees is a plus)
  • Must be willing and able to adapt to changing situations
  • High sense of urgency and willingness to follow up proactively
  • Basic level of understanding of DOT processes, policies and procedures
